The Bubble Chamber

The Bubble Chamber is our Pop up place for performance and art.

Bringing dance and digital art to the high street in our fringe venue, we present performance, art, workshops and classes in Coventry City Centre. For our programme of activity visit

In a year we have worked with over 400 participants at the Bubble Chamber, presented 22 dance performances, 10 digital dance installations running in total for over 16 weeks and hosted a variety of rehearsals and events. We have shared our work with audiences of over 14400 and presented the project, interactive installations and how Artists can support city centre regeneration through our shop window to a footfall of 455,454.

Our first phase of The Bubble Chamber was part of the Dancing for the Games programme, funded by Legacy Trust UK, an independent charity set up to create a cultural and sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games across the UK, Arts Council England and Advantage West Midlands with additional support from The Higgs Charity and Warwick Arts Centre.

A project aimed at 14 to 19 year olds, their friends and families, the Bubble Chamber celebrates young people’s dance and digital creations. The project has toured to empty shops in the West Midlands sharing the empty shops work pioneered in Coventry.

The Bubble Chamber is about working in empty shops as temporary spaces for art and dance installations. Each installation is unique and tailored to the venue in which it is held. As a performance event the Bubble Chamber can be created with groups of students or professionals to establish a site specific show that evolves over time.

Working in empty shops offers a new way of engaging audiences of all ages with visual art and live performance. The Bubble Chamber project is part of this and is something we are reshaping and reconceiving in empty shops around the country.
